Meridian Prom 2017

Hello beautiful people of the internet

Ever since watching American movies, attending a prom dance has been a big dream of mine. During my exchange year, this dream came true. I had my first and last prom yesterday. The preparation that goes into planning everything is crazy, dress, hair, makeup etc, there's so much to think about.

I knew I wanted a white dress but finding one was way harder than I thought. I ended up getting this white, strapless a-line gown from David's bridal, they had a great selection and good prices. For accessories, I found these gorgeous earrings at Topshop ( link here ) and a bracelet & hair pins at Clair's here. Shoe wise I wore these pale pink velvet heels from Forever 21 ( similar here ) to add a pop of color. The day of prom I ended up getting a simple clutch from Express ( similar here ) that goes with the heels.

I got my hair done at Devoted Salon in the Midland mall, they lady taking care of me was really sweet and talented, she made sure that I would get just the hairdo I wished. I recommend this salon to everyone, it is my go-to place for hair and I  always leave devoted super satisfied. The look we did was a half up half down with lots of volume and curls. To add some sparkle she put in 3 pins on each side. Simple and elegant.

I did my own makeup starting off with the basic face makeup, for the eyes I used the sweet peach palette from Too Faced ( read all about this palette in my last post here), lashes from Ardell in 117 ( here ) and for lips the Tarte ''Limited Edition Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint''

Now to the prom itself, before heading to the location I meet up with a group of people at a park to take pictures, from there we drove to the actual place where we had dinner and then the dance. Our prom theme was '' Old Hollywood '' which I personally found a great idea.

I'm so happy I got to experience this american tradition and dress up for a night and I'm thankful for each and every one of you who made it possible. My time in the US is almost over but this day will be remembered for sure. I have to say, this prom had a lot of ups ( and some small downs) but it was perfect just the way it was.

Have a week

Valentine's Day Special // Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette Review

Hello, beautiful people of the internet.
First of all

Happy Valentine's Day!

In march too faced came out with the sweet peach eyeshadow palette.
It's ben sold out everywhere since day one ( it has been restocked), and a must have for every makeup enthusiast.
Luckily enough I got my hands on one a few months ago and today I'm going to introduce it to you.

As always we got blessed with one of too faced's spectacles packagings.
The palette is in this orange/ pink box with golden letters. The back is showing the colors with the matching names a description. Since the theme is ¨sweet peach¨ all shadows have a peachy/ vanilla scent which is a nice little extra.

You get 18 different shades, going from shimmery white to deep glittery plum. Peachy pinks and beautiful browns allow you to create many different looks, pops of green and orange can be found too. Texture wise the shadows are soft and apply easily. The shadows are metallics, sparkly, and matt.

Since I've had this palette I discovered two looks I like to create on an everyday basis, here they are!

Light shimmer
put ¨nectar¨on 1 ¨luscious¨ on 2 ,¨caramelizied¨ on 3 and 4 and mix ¨caramelized¨ with ¨peach pit¨ for 5.

Purple touch

¨white peach¨ for 1 ,¨delectable¨ for 2 ,¨talk derby to me¨in 3,
¨tempting¨4 and ¨peach pit¨ as 5.

To get your hands on a palette too klick here
It is also available in some Sephora and Ulta stores.

If you get your own palette or create any of the looks make sure to tweet them to me @aquaross or tag me on Instagram (@ aquaross too), I'd love to see which looks you come
 up with.

Once again I hope you're enjoying the day with your loved ones and are having lots of fun.

Have a great day

Bye 2016 / 2017 bring it on!

Hello, beautiful people of the internet.
Here we are again, there are only a few hours of 2016 left.
2017 is starting so close I haven't even realized it yet. This year has been the shit·ti·est  and most amazing year in a long time. The downs were so deep down I'm sure they touched the center of our planet and the ups reached far over the sky. So much stuff happened, from traveling over to my graduation, my exchange year and lots more. I feel like this year was when I got to express myself the best, I started showing my inside-outside ( sounds awfully cheesy I know), I started expressing my feelings, sharing my opinions and standing up for what I believe in ( trust me it was scary as hell). Some months were rough and asked for lots of patience, thinking, and decisions to make. It's the year I stopped giving a schnitzel about society. But it wasn't all bad, I got to meet so many new people and learn tons of new things. And now I'm here in the US living what I always dreamed of. I was blessed this year, I received more than I could ever imagine and I'm not talking about materialistic stuff. Grateful is not a big enough word that describes how I feel about everything that I got to be part of. Like many other people I have new years resolutions too although mine is not defined, I don' have anything settled because I find myself more relaxed when I don't have definitive plans. I still have goals which I hope to achieve but lving the moment comes first to me. So let's wrapp this year up and slide into ( not the dms) but 2017. I whish you all have an amazing celebration or even if you odn't celebrate , a relaxing evening. May 2017 be another interesting year

Aquaross meets US // EF Welcome Days

Hello, beautiful people of the internet.
Time has ben going so fast and I've ben in the US for 82 days already!
This is crazy, it feels like yesterday when I was sitting in my room in Switzerland packing my bags.
Today I'm going to tell you about my time at the EF Welcome days.

Welcome days

With EF I got the chance to spend a few days in New York before coming to Michigan, we did some sightseeing and many activities. On the 24th August, I flew from Z├╝rich to JFK NY. The about 14h flight sounds long but I got to meet other exchange students that I now consider my friends. Since we were kind of trapped in that plane we ended up talking and getting to know each other ( and doing yoga, playing this or that and jamming out to some great songs). Once in NY, we got picked up by the EF bus that brought us to campus ( about 1.5h bus ride). Then we got our rooms and the jetlag started hitting everybody :). Anyway, we managed to keep ourselves awake until dinner at 5 that time it was 11 pm. back home. I didn't do much that evening, we watched a movie and hopped into bed. The next morning we had a delicious American style breakfast. All exchange students got split up into groups, one group for each state. Since I'm in Michigan I was part of Eric's (our group leader) group. That day we went over more rules and tips for living in the US and did some ''getting to know each other games'' too. In the afternoon, there was information about the next day and after that, we were basically free. My friends and I had dinner and went outside where we hung out with some Spanish exchange students. It got d dark so we went back in where there was currently karaoke playing and of course, we had to be part of that. This day we went to NYC for some sightseeing and shopping. Starting at the Central Park we visited Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building and Time Square. We came back in the afternoon and everyone got ready for our last evening. Lucky us we got to have a bbq with hamburgers and more delicious food ( the vegetarian burger was awesome too). Every group met up one last time and we got our flight information for the next day and took group pictures. EF was nice enough to let us have the last evening party with lots of dancing, singing, and snacks. Then after jumping around for hours it was time to say goodbye.Like always I was super dramatic about it again. The ''party'' was over at about 9 pm and I got woken up at 2.30am in the middle of the night to take off. I was lucky enough to be on the same bus as my friends but once we arrived at the airport everything went so fast leaving no time to say goodbye. I went inside and guess what ?! my suitcase was overweight, what a surprise, not really hahaha. Then I found out that my flight got canceled so I had to rebook a new one, the EF stuff basically did all of the work for me from getting me the ticket to informing my host family. My new flight was scheduled earlier which didn't bother me at all. I had one stop in Detroit and landed in Saginaw at 9.45. My host family waited there for me, I got a welcome poster, we grabbed my luggage and went to an American breakfast place where I had french toast for the first time. These days have ben incredible I enjoyed very second of it. I'm proud that I mad the decision and signed up for my exchange year and I don't regret it at all.EF was is the right thing for me and I'm excited for more adventures to come during this year.

Btw follow me on Snapchat @aquaross to see more of my time here in the US.

have a great week
